Office of Student Services Receives Seventh Annual Distinguished Diversity Leaders Award

The Office of Student Services Team was selected to receive the Seventh Annual Distinguished Diversity Leaders Award. In close partnership between the Vice Provost for Equity, Inclusion and Academic Affairs and the Associate Vice President for Human Resources, the Distinguished Diversity Leaders Award was established to shine a light on those staff members who work toward achieving a welcoming, supportive and inclusive working environment.

Are interviews a part of the admissions process for the MSW program?

The School of Social Work interviews many applicants to the MSW program each year who either request an interview themselves or are requested to interview by the Office of Student Services and Enrollment Management. Not all applicants will have an interview as part of their admission process.

Can I change my pathway of interest after I have submitted the MSW application?

Yes, you may request a change to your pathway of interest. Please complete and submit the pathway change request form.

Are F-1 or J-1 students eligible to work while enrolled in the MSW Program?

Yes, F-1 and J-1 students are eligible to work up to 20 hours per week on-campus while enrolled at the School. Visit the UM International Center webpage for detailed information.

When will I receive an admission decision if I applied to the MSW Program by the December 1 early application deadline?

Applicants that were complete with their application and supporting documents by December 1 receive notification of their status through the initial review by March 1. For most applicants this will be a final admission decision. For some applicants, the School will inform them by March 1 that a re-review of their application will be completed in May. Some applicants who have their applications re-reviewed in May will be admitted into the program, some will be denied admission, and others will be offered a position on an Alternate List. Does the University of Michigan School of Social Work grant social work course credit for life experience or previous work experience?

No; however, transfer credit is possible for courses taken from CSWE accredited MSW programs or other accredited graduate-level programs where credits have not been applied toward a degree.
