Course Options
Students in the JCLP will complete coursework in Judaic Studies and take part in the JCLP seminar each term in addition to their Social Work classes and field education. Specific Social Work course requirements vary based on pathway, but a general course plan is provided below. Students have the opportunity to choose from a variety of Judaic Studies courses, exploring different aspects of Jewish life under a social work lens and bringing a unique perspective to the Judaic Studies department.

Field Education
School of Social Work (SSW) field education presents students with multiple opportunities to become a part of the professional social work community, where they will learn to integrate classroom knowledge with practice and develop their social work skills and identity. Field education provides an opportunity to participate in "hands-on" meaningful service and gain invaluable coworking skills. This venture into practical experience allows students to develop a multifaceted, culturally relevant understanding of how social work relates directly to some of the communities which surround the University of Michigan.
Students in the JCLP have a unique opportunity to participate in two field placements over the course of their MSW program. This allows students to complete at least one field placement in a Jewish communal organization. Past and present placement options include, but are not limited to, the following:
