Lydia W. Li

Professor Lydia Li is a gerontologist. Her research aims to understand and advance healthy aging among older adults in disadvantaged socio-economic positions. Her current research focuses on social isolation, depression and ageism. She is a fellow of the Gerontological Society of America (GSA) and a Hartford Geriatric Social Work Faculty Scholar. She served as the co-chair of the 2016 GSA program committee. She is associate editor of the International Journal of Social Welfare. She also serves on the editorial board of Research on Aging and Journal of Gerontological Social Work.

Shirley A. Lockery

Shirley Lockery joined the University of Michigan faculty in 1990 as an assistant professor and was promoted to associate professor in 1998. Prior to her appointment at the School of Social Work, Lockery earned a certificate in gerontology and practiced for many years as a registered nurse. She also was a faculty member at San Diego State University from 1983 to 1990. She retired in 2003 as associate professor emerita.

Katie Lopez

Dr. Katie Lopez is an adjunct clinical associate professor and director of the Office of Global Activities at the School of Social Work. She leads the administration office, which includes managing study abroad opportunities for students, international institutional partnerships, scholarship and grant opportunities, programming to support international degree-seeking students, and the exchange visitor program. As a licensed social worker, she serves as field faculty for MSW students completing placements outside the U.S.

Phillip Thomas Luttrell

Phillip Luttrell, MSW '16, focuses on individual and group practice with individuals that have co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Luttrell primarily utilizes Motivational Interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques. He has a certification in addictions counseling (CAADC) and currently practices in Southeast Michigan.

Paula M. Madden

Paula M. Madden, MSW ’02, focuses on social justice, social welfare policy, juvenile/criminal justice, and practice with women and girls. Madden recently retired after 23 years serving youth and families in the juvenile justice system at Washtenaw County Trial Court.

Kathryn L. Maguire-Jack

Kathryn (Katie) Maguire-Jack, MSW, MPA, PhD, is a professor of social work. She studies child maltreatment prevention, with a focus on understanding macro-level factors affecting parenting, including public policies and neighborhood structures and processes. She teaches courses in child welfare, public policy, program evaluation and research methods. Her work is funded by the National Institutes of Health, the U.S.

Douglas Manigault III

Douglas Manigault III (he/him), MSW '15, is a respectful boundary pusher, experienced relationship manager and strategist. A macro social worker by training and profession, Manigault has worked in organizations across Southeastern Michigan to support program development, volunteer engagement, fundraising, program evaluation, management information system support, and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion workshops/training. He serves as a consultant with organizations to provide full grant life cycle support — from prospect research to proposal writing to post-award management.

Kassandra L. Maple-Jackson

Kassandra Maple-Jackson, MSW ’11, is a licensed clinical social worker with an endorsement from the Michigan Association for Infant Mental Health as an Infant Family Specialist. As a mental health practitioner, she specializes in working with children and adults, including individual, family and group therapy. In her role as a senior clinical social worker within the Trinity Behavioral Health OB/GYN division and the Perinatal Wellness Center, Maple-Jackson seeks to improve the mental and emotional well-being of patients through evidence-based interventions.

Erin B. Martinez-Gilliard

Erin Martinez has worked in the social work field for more than 20 years. She has worked in residential treatment, shelter services, community-based services and outpatient mental health services over the course of her career. She has worked with populations that are survivors of sexual and interpersonal violence as well as those who have perpetrated this violence towards others. Her training throughout her career has centered around trauma-informed, holistic interventions that incorporate the mind-body-spirit. She is also an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist.
