MSW student Sophie Guymon called upon Michigan Medicine to reinstate a full spectrum of gender-affirming care for youth in a Michigan Daily editorial. 

“As a leader in health care, Michigan Medicine must reinstate these essential interventions in accordance with state policy, recommendations from major medical organizations and its responsibility to provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary support.”

MSW student Jerrard Wheeler has been named a 2025 Rising Graduate Scholar by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education.  The honor is given in recognition of the stellar work of hard-working graduate students. Wheeler was nominated by Clinical Associate Professor Daicia Price, who said “Jerrard is a visionary practitioner whose leadership is rooted in restorative justice, intersectionality, and community healing.”   

NAMI Metro is a grass roots, all volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for persons with serious mental illness and their families through advocacy, support and education. In addition, NAMI Metro promotes research that will lead to improvements for all those diagnosed and living with a mental illness. It is NAMI Metro's endeavor to erase the stigma that is associated with mental illness and they will not rest until mental illness is accepted the same as any other illness.

The NAMI Metro Scholarship Funds provides need-based support to MSW students

The MSW Program and the Flourish Office will be co-hosting a Come thru Sip n' CIDER social.  Please join us in McGregor Commons for cider, donuts, music, games, and the opportunity to connect with the MSW community.  This event is open to all students, staff, and faculty!

In addition to the Flourish and MSW Program, the MSW Program's Career Services and Writing Center will be present to connect with students.  

The Clarita Mays Memorial MSW Scholarship Fund was established to provide support for MSW students in memory of Clarita Mays, MSW '86, who passed away on July 16, 2018.

This scholarship was established for Mildred F. Knapp to provide support for MSW students who plan to work directly with children.

Telluride House is a merit-based residential room and board scholarship committed to establishing a vibrant community supporting democratic ideals of self-governance, a stimulating intellectual environment, and a commitment to public service. All current or prospective U-M students, undergraduate or graduate, are encourage to apply, regardless of program or field of study.

The Telluride House Scholarship

This fund was established by Judson Henry Morris, Jr. and Lynne Clemmons Morris in memory of her relative Ellen Gates Starr, who co-founded Hull House with Jane Addams. It provides support to cover tuition expenses for MSW students in the School of Social Work concentrating in community organization, with demonstrated financial need.

The Recovery Village awards a $1,000 scholarship to a student pursuing a health-related degree program with a focus on substance abuse and mental health.

The Verne LaMarr Lyons Memorial MSW Scholarship is awarded to a Master's degree candidate in social work who demonstrates an interest in or has experience with health/mental health practice and has a commitment to working in African American communities.
