NAMI Metro is a grass roots, all volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for persons with serious mental illness and their families through advocacy, support and education. In addition, NAMI Metro promotes research that will lead to improvements for all those diagnosed and living with a mental illness. It is NAMI Metro's endeavor to erase the stigma that is associated with mental illness and they will not rest until mental illness is accepted the same as any other illness.
The NAMI Metro Scholarship Funds provides need-based support to MSW students pursuing a career in mental health providing direct patient care. The Donor further desires that the recipients plan to pursue their career in Michigan. The Donor understands, however, that the University will not remove or seek repayment if a recipient's career plans or location change.
