African Studies Center Funding for Research or Internship Support in Africa
Deadline: mid-February
ASC seeks applications from University of Michigan students for a limited number of grants toward summer or semester-long research projects or internships at institutions and businesses in Africa. Applicants for research grants may be at preliminary or more advanced stages of their research; applicants for internships should identify the venue for their internship in a governmental agency, business, or non-governmental institution in the region.
Center for European Studies - European Union Center Summer Research and Internship Grants
Deadline: mid-February
The Weiser Center for Europe and Eurasia seeks applications from University of Michigan undergraduate and graduate students for grants ranging from $5,000 towards summer research or internships. The grants are intended to promote the study of Europe and European integration.

Center for the Education of Women Scholarships and Fellowships
Deadline: late February
Multiple scholarships are awarded annually ranging between $2,000 and $5,000. Four different fellowship funds are available for students planning travel abroad tied to issues of importance to women and/or health-related fields.

International Institute Student Fellowships
Deadline: mid-February
The International Institute Individual Fellowships are designed to support University of Michigan students, regardless of citizenship, who are enrolled in a degree program and wish to participate in internships or conduct research abroad. Award amounts are up to $5,000.

Latin American & Caribbean Studies (LACS) Field Research Grants

SSW Global Independent Study Grant Application
Deadline: mid-February
A global independent study offers students the ability to design a global social work opportunity in a foreign country while earning 1-3 elective credits. Accepted students receive a $2,500 scholarship to offset the cost of travel.

Tinker Field Research Grant
Deadline: Mid-February
The Tinker Field Research Grants are funded by the Tinker Foundation, LACS, and the International Institute to support graduate students conducting preliminary fieldwork in Latin America.

Fulbright Program
Deadline: Late March (campus deadline)
The Institute of International Education (IIE), on behalf of the U.S. State Department, administers the Student Fulbright Program, which makes fellowships available to approximately 1,900 U.S. students annually to study, conduct research, teach English or train in the creative arts in more than 140 countries worldwide. At U-M this competition is administered by the International Institute.
