SSW Events

For all students currently enrolled in field.

Students must submit their PVF's by Tuesday 09/15/26. This will allow one week for their Field Instructor/Task Supervisor to review, approve and submit the PVF by the final due date of Tuesday 09/22/26.

All official field-related notifications are sent to the field instructor's UMich email address. To approve the PVF and eventually the student's Educational Agreement, the Field Instructor(s) must sign in using their uniqname and password.

This is a requirement to pass SW515/ SW691

Pre-Field Orientation is an opportunity to discuss the start of your Field Education experience. This mandatory meeting will go through expectations, important due dates, and help you prepare to begin your field placement.

This online session will provide the opportunity to learn more about the University of Michigan School of Social Work MSW program. Topics covered will include: On-Campus Program, Online Program, Curriculum Options, Application Process, Financial Aid, and more!

All registered attendees will receive a recording of the session.

This session is for all incoming Winter 2027 On-Campus and Online MSW students. Students that are being admitted into the MSW program in Fall 2026 but will not start field until the Winter 2027 term, please plan to attend this virtual Introduction to Field Education Webinar. This webinar will help navigate the process of applying for a field placement.

Field Instructors from Michigan Medicine will share information about the student program and specific placements during this session.

For those unable to attend this session, it will be recorded and put on the OFE Events page 2-3 days after the event.

• As a part of the field application process, the Office of Field Education has posted the Hospital Based Placements Info Session video. This video must be viewed before the Q&A Session mentioned below. This informational video discusses medical vs. psychiatry placements, macro placements, student-training programs, and specific application processes for individual healthcare systems.

Join us for an information session to learn about the Winter 2027 term Global Course Extension based in Cuernavaca, Mexico!

This program is led by U-M SSW faculty members and accepted students earn elective MSW credit. This winter's course will involve travel in Mexico during Spring Break. Read more about Global Course Extension model on the Office of Global Activities website.

Students must submit their Placement Verification Forms by Tuesday 9/15/26.

This allows sufficient time for field instructors/task supervisors to make edits and/or approve PVFs by Tuesday 9/22/26.

This is a requirement to pass SW515/ SW691.
