For all students currently enrolled in field.
Please ensure the PVF is submitted on time as this will ensure the students access to their SS26 Online Educational Agreement (OEA).
This is a requirement to pass SW515/ SW691.
SS26 Placement Verification Forms (PVFs) are Due to Field Instructors for Review & Approval
Students must submit their Placement Verification Forms by Tuesday 5/12/26.
This allows sufficient time for field instructors/task supervisors to make edits and/or approve PVFs by Tuesday 5/19/26.
This is a requirement to pass SW515/ SW691.
SS26 Placement Verification Forms (PVFs) Open
For all students currently enrolled in field.
Students must submit their PVF's by Tuesday 05/12/26. This will allow one week for their Field Instructor/Task Supervisor to review, approve and submit the PVF by the final due date of Tuesday 05/19/26.
All official field-related notifications are sent to the field instructor's UMich email address. To approve the PVF and eventually the student's Educational Agreement, the Field Instructor(s) must sign in using their uniqname and password.

Virtual Introduction to Field Education Webinar for MSW Students Starting Field in the Winter 2027 Term
This session is for all incoming Winter 2027 On-Campus and Online MSW students. Students that are being admitted into the MSW program in Fall 2026 but will not start field until the Winter 2027 term, please plan to attend this virtual Introduction to Field Education Webinar. This webinar will help navigate the process of applying for a field placement.
Virtual Pre-Field Orientation Webinar for MSW Students Starting Field in the Spring/Summer 2026 Term
This event is for students starting Field, residential and online, in the Spring/Summer 2026 term.
This mandatory session will help to provide an overview of what to expect in Field your first term, what is required for a successful grade, and to answer any questions students may have. Please ensure you are attending the correct Field Faculty meeting. If you are unsure of who your Field Faculty is, check your SW515 canvas site. Virtual Hospital-Based Placement Q&A Session for Incoming Fall 2026 MSW Students
As a part of the field application process, the Office of Field Education will be posting an informational video regarding Hospital/Healthcare-Based Placements by mid-April 2026. This video must be viewed before the Q&A Session mentioned below. Information regarding medical vs. psychiatry placements, macro placements, student-training programs, and specific application processes for individual healthcare systems will be discussed in this video. Please be sure to check your UMich email for the details and video link that will be available soon.

Virtual Introduction to Field Education Webinar for MSW Students Starting Field in the Fall 2026 Term
This session is for all incoming Fall 2026 On-Campus and Online MSW students. This webinar is specifically for students starting field in Fall 2026. All students starting field in Fall 2026 should plan to view this session. This webinar will help navigate the process of applying for a field placement. The last 30 minutes of the session discusses specific information for students planning to apply for a school-based field placement.
Students admitted in Fall 2025 to a dual degree or Part-Time program should also watch this session, since you are scheduled to start field in Fall 2026.

Christina Dadswell and Shanna Kattari Receive 2025 James T. Neubacher Award Honorable Mentions
Assistant Director of Field Education Christina Dadswell and Associate Professor Shanna Kattari are both recipients of a 2025 James T. Neubacher Award Honorable Mention. The U-M Council for Disability Concerns established the James T. Neubacher Award in 1990 as a memorial to Jim Neubacher, a U-M alum who was a columnist for The Detroit Free Press and an advocate for equal rights and opportunities for people with disabilities. Through his advocacy, he sought to “raise a little consciousness” and “raise a little hell!” The award is presented annually in October during Disability Community Month
Office of Field Education Receives CSWE 2025 Professional Award
The Office of Field Education has received the Council on Social Work Education 2025 Professional Award for Field Education/Practicum Excellence in Innovation. The office is being recognized for its transformative approach to disability equity, which integrates disability-affirming practices across all aspects of the School’s field program. This award is among CSWE’s highest honors, recognizing significant contributions to social work education.
