Desktop Support, Software Support, and General Computing Assistance
MiWorkspace Neighborhood IT (NIT) is a part of U-M Information and Technology Services (ITS) and along with the ITS Service Center, they provides SSW faculty and staff with general computing assistance and computer hardware support. If you are unsure who to contact about a computer issue, the ITS Service Center should be your first option.
Services supported include:
- Printer setup via MPrint
- Gmailemail support
- Desktop backup via CrashPlan
- Software installation
- Hardware support with your SSW provided laptop, desktop, monitor or perpherials such as keyboards and mice
- File storage (Dropbox, Google Drive) and access of U:\ and J:\ drives via MiStorage. For off-campus access, you can follow this document for accessing your U:\ or J:\ drives.
- Wired and wireless network access, including VPN

The ITS Service Center makes use of remote support software and can troubleshoot many issues remotely. If it is something that is unable to fixed remotely, an NIT staff member will assist in person.

Other Services
MiWorkspace and the ITS Service Center also assist in supporting many other University services such as Microsoft Office , Adobe Creative Cloud , Google Drive, Duo Two-Factor Login, and Dropbox. They can assist faculty, staff, and students with these services on MiWorkspace or personally owned devices. If you are unsure who to contact for a computer issue, the ITS Service Center should be your first option. If it is not a service they support, they will contact SSW IT and we will work together to resolve your issue.
MiWorkspace Security and Privacy
The MiWorkspace environment balances security and privacy with convenience, ensuring your data, computers, and personal information are secure. Several security features are a part of the service such as encrypted laptop in the event of loss of theft, secure configurations that limit unauthorized access, data sanitization of MiWorkspace equipment, automated security updates to stay protected and in compliance with University requirements and industry best practices, regular security scans to identify missing updates or at-risk sensitive data.
