This course presents advanced topics in macro social work practice. The topics may include emerging macro practice issues and advanced application of specific methods.
Class this term is for students with an int'l field placement planned for the upcoming Spring/Summer term . Class will have a final meeting session during the subsequent Fall term.
This course is designed to help prepare social work students for professional practice during a field placement or study experience in a global setting, as well as to help integrate that experience into the broader educational experience at UM/SSW. Students will critically examine the impact of their positionalities, assumptions, values, theories and practice models and begin to develop a practice framework that is ethical, relevant and effective in a global setting.
