Service Opportunity:
Keep Growing Detroit is a Detroit-based urban farm and organization that exists to cultivate a food-sovereign city where the majority of fruits and vegetables consumed by Detroiters are grown by residents within the city itself. Through education, resources, and connection, Keep Growing Detroit supports thousands of gardeners and farmers across Detroit, Highland Park, and Hamtramck. Together we grow food, strengthen neighborhoods, and build the knowledge and relationships needed for a healthy and resilient local food system.
As part of Climate Week 2026, join the U-M School of Social Work (SSW) for a service day at Keep Growing Detroit. Volunteering at Keep Growing Detroit will happen from 10 am-12 pm. Volunteers can drive themselves or take the bus from SSW to Keep Growing Detroit. From 12pm-1:30pm folks who took the bus can explore Eastern Market and grab lunch. Transportation will be provided for volunteers, with the bus leaving from the U-M School of Social Work at 9 am and returning no later than 3 pm. Space is limited to 40 people.
