July is Disability Pride Month, a time to recognize disability as an essential part of human diversity and to celebrate the resilience, creativity, leadership, and contributions of disabled people.

Too often, disability is viewed only through the lens of limitation or medical diagnosis. Disability Pride invites us to challenge ableism, recognize disability culture and identity, and imagine communities where accessibility, inclusion, and belonging are woven into every aspect of campus life.

We invite students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members to join us for a Community Conversation exploring disability pride, lived experiences, allyship, and disability justice. Through restorative dialogue, we hope to create a space where everyone can learn from one another, reflect on their own experiences, and consider how we can continue building a more accessible and inclusive School of Social Work.

No prior knowledge is needed. Whether you identify as disabled, are exploring disability identity, are an ally, or simply want to learn, your perspective is welcome.

About Community Conversations.  Community Conversations can be called by anyone in our community. They are designed to help us come together to talk about things that matter. They invite us to consider different perspectives and ideas - even when we disagree. We try to keep them small, since our hope is to explore restorative dialogue and build community, creating a space where we are all teachers and learners. We will draw heavily on practices from intergroup dialogue and restorative justice.

After registering, you will be added to a calendar invite with a Zoom link
