Join us for a thought-provoking presentation with Dr. Brian E. Perron as he explores the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into research and administrative workflows in social work. Dr. Perron will discuss how embracing nuanced approaches to AI adoption—rather than blanket acceptance or rejection—can reveal real opportunities for efficiency, ethical alignment, and minimal environmental impact.
The presentation develops a framework for evaluating AI applications across three dimensions: computational resource requirements, human labor implications, and institutional risk exposure. Central to this framework is the distinction between AI applications that replace human judgment and those that accelerate preparatory tasks, thereby reallocating human expertise toward higher-order analytical work.
The presentation includes demonstrations of recently developed AI technologies with significant implications for social work that have received limited attention within the discipline.
