We invite you to join an open and thoughtful Community Conversation about Health at Every Size. We live in a society that often views weight and health as one in the same; skinny = healthy, and fat = unhealthy. Fat bodies are villainized as “promoting unhealthy lifestyles” by people who don’t know any other aspects of someone’s health status. But what if our society approached health in a way that focuses not on weight or size, but on mental, emotional, social, spiritual, physical, and all types of health as parts of a bigger whole? This conversation aims to create dialogue around a more holistic view of health, societal stigma regarding weight, fat liberation, and how we can best support people of all sizes through use of Health at Every Size principles.
All are welcome to join, regardless of background or experience. This is a time to share perspectives, raise questions or concerns, and be in community with others as we navigate these important topics together.
About the format.
With these smaller Community Conversations, our hope is to explore restorative dialogue and build community, creating a space where we are all teachers and learners. We will draw heavily on practices from intergroup dialogue and restorative justice.
