Retirement Celebration Honoring Dr. Joseph Himle

Dr. Himle will retire from active faculty status on December 31, 2025, after nearly four decades of distinguished service to the University of Michigan. A three-time U-M alumnus, Dr. Himle’s illustrious career has spanned clinical practice, education, leadership, and internationally recognized research in mental health.

Dr. Himle has held numerous leadership roles within the School of Social Work, including associate dean for faculty affairs, associate dean for research, and interim dean. He directed and co-directed several research groups and programs, leaving a legacy of excellence in both the School of Social Work and the Department of Psychiatry.
