Description

The Gerholz Center for Christian Counseling, a ministry of First Presbyterian Church of Flint, provides accessible and affordable counseling services to individuals, families, and groups throughout Flint and surrounding communities. Rooted in compassion, faith, and clinical excellence, we are committed to supporting healing, growth, and resilience in those facing emotional, relational, and mental health challenges.
We are seeking a Staff Counselor to join our collaborative and mission-driven team. At Gerholz, we value both client care and the professional growth of our clinicians. Staff have opportunities for ongoing training and professional development, including continuing education credits. Clinical supervision is provided to those seeking full licensure, with ongoing supervision available from fully licensed counselors.

Clinical Responsibilities
● Provide competent, professional counseling and related clinical services;
● Assess, diagnose, and treat children, adolescents, and families;
● Maintain accurate and timely clinical records and electronic health records;
● Respond to telephone messages in a timely manner;
● Prepare cases for case review;
● Participate in ongoing training and clinical supervision;
● Initiate crisis intervention when appropriate;
● Provide coverage for other counselors when needed.

Lay Helper Program
● Provide oversight for the Lay Helper Program;
● Provide supervision to Lay Helpers;
● Identify new opportunities for the Lay Helper Ministry.

Administrative Responsibilities
● Attend and participate in GCCC staff meetings, retreats, and outings;
● Assist in developing forms and procedures;
● Assist with compliance related to legal record-keeping requirements;
● Assist the Director and GCCC Committee with fundraising strategies.

Qualifications
● Experience assessing, diagnosing, and developing treatment plans;
● Computer skills and ability to use electronic health record systems;
● Flexibility to balance clinical and administrative responsibilities;
● LLMSW, LMSW, LLPC, LPC, or LP.
