About MSHIELD:
MSHIELD promotes whole health for all people through data driven, community-partnered quality improvement (www.michiganshield.org). MSHIELD supports our partners in implementing data-driven and patient-centered approaches to identify patients at the highest risk for high-cost and low-value care. Our interventions include activities that focus on addressing barriers to high-quality care, both in and out of the clinical setting, such as addressing non-medical needs, which are associated with adverse health outcomes.
About the Role:
We are seeking a motivated and passionate student intern to join our team. In this role, the student will support MSHIELD’s Community-Clinical Partnerships work by contributing to the development of trainings and presentations to support CQI staff, clinical teams, and community partners; creating onboarding materials and assisting with meeting preparations for the Community Advisory Council; and assisting with the planning and execution of MSHIELD’s annual Community-Clinical Partnership Summit. The role includes participation in MSHIELD meetings and events, as well as support for other project activities as needed. The goal of this position is to provide opportunities for students to gain real-world experience, engage with leaders at all levels of the organization, participate in a variety of educational activities, and integrate their studies and experience with MSHIELD’s work. MSHIELD takes workforce development and diversity seriously, and this program is seen as an opportunity to live into that value. Required Qualifications:
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Pursuing University of Michigan Master’s degree or higher in social work, public health or a related field
- Demonstrated understanding of public health equity
- Interest supporting the health of diverse communities
