About CIDE:
The Public Administration Department (PAD) of the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE) is accepting applications for up to three tenure-track Associate Professor positions. Two of the positions are located at the Santa Fe campus in Mexico City, and one at the Central Region campus in Aguascalientes City. These positions are expected to begin in the fall 2026 semester, pending approval from the Mexican government. CIDE is a public research center of the Mexican Ministry of Science, Humanities, Technology, and Innovation (SECIHTI). Since its founding in 1975, the PAD has been a pluralistic academic department open to diverse perspectives and debates in public affairs. The PAD is committed to the study and teaching of public administration and public policy. PAD faculty are based at CIDE’s two campuses (Santa Fe in Mexico City and Central Region in Aguascalientes) and conduct academic research addressing both national and international public policy challenges. In addition to teaching high-quality academic programs in public administration and public policy, faculty members participate in professional training programs and contribute to a wide range of institutional activities at CIDE.
About the Role:
The positions are opened for tenure-track Associate Professors at PAD. CIDE is a public social science research center with national and international reputation. The institution supports high-quality scientific research and provides incentives for international academic publication and scholarly productivity. The standard teaching load is one course per semester, and faculty members are expected to become part of SECIHTI’s National System of Researchers (SNII) as soon as possible.
Candidates should meet the following requirements:
1. Strong academic training, both theoretical and methodological, in public administration and/or public policy.
2. A Ph.D. in public administration, public policy, or a closely related field is required. Applications from candidates who do not meet this requirement will be considered if they submit a letter signed by their dissertation advisor indicating the expected date of completion. Candidates must also submit the most recent version of their dissertation.
3. A demonstrated interest in conducting research that informs and improves public decision-making processes, or that addresses organizational, policy, or public management challenges at the national or international level.
4. A willingness to engage in collaborative efforts with academic communities and policymakers who are interested in the promotion of evidence and knowledge for the purpose of addressing public issues.
5. A research agenda or scholarly publications related to one or more of the following areas: public health, civil service, public safety, gender, applications of artificial intelligence and data science, local government, natural disaster management, or other relevant areas within public administration and public policy.
Candidates must demonstrate their ability to teach graduate-level courses, supervise master’s and doctoral theses, and contribute to institutional scientific outreach and academic service. Successful candidates will be expected to develop a research career leading to national and international recognition. Faculty members are expected to actively participate in departmental and institutional activities at PAD and CIDE.
The hiring decisions will be based on the relevance and quality of the academic work, the teaching experience, the research agenda to be developed, and its alignment with CIDE's objectives, as well as performance in job talks and interviews with the PAD faculty. If a foreign candidate is selected for a tenure-track position, CIDE will assist them in obtaining the appropriate work permit from the Mexican immigration authorities. The language of instruction at CIDE is Spanish. Candidates who are not fluent in Spanish will be required to sign a letter of commitment stating that they will be able to teach in Spanish within twelve months of their start date.

1. Proof of PhD degree. Applicants who have not yet completed their PhD must submit the most recent version of their dissertation and specify the expected completion date, along with the advisor’s confirmation letter described above.
2. Cover letter (maximum one page). The letter must clearly specify the preferred campus (Santa Fe or Central Region).
3. Three academic references, including contact information. Letters of recommendation are not required at the initial stage.

8. One recent academic writing sample demonstrating the applicant’s research capacity (e.g., refereed journal article, book chapter, or book). Sole-authored work is preferred; for co-authored work, the applicant must clearly indicate their specific contribution.
All application materials must be submitted in PDF format to [email protected].
Selection Process:
Applications will be reviewed in several stages.
First stage:
The selection committee will evaluate candidates based on their qualifications and the materials they submit. Applicants who receive a favorable evaluation will be invited to submit three letters of recommendation, issued within the previous 12 months. For candidates who have not yet completed their PhD, one letter must be written by the dissertation advisor.
Second stage:
Selected candidates may be invited to participate in:
- An academic seminar (job talk) presenting their research.
- Individual interviews with PAD faculty.
These activities may take place either online or in person. The academic seminar will be open to the PAD and CIDE community. During the seminar, candidates should present the research work submitted with their application, along with an overview of their research agenda and teaching approach.
Following these evaluations, the PAD faculty will issue recommendations for appointment in accordance with CIDE regulations.
