About the Emergency Campaign to Support Higher Education:
The Emergency Campaign to Support Higher Education is a grassroots movement of students, alumni, community leaders, faculty, and staff organizing to oppose the Trump Administration’s assault on higher education and fight for free public college and increased support for all of higher education. The attack on colleges and universities is an attack on the foundation of a free and democratic society—a calculated power grab aimed at undermining social, racial, and economic justice. No institution can withstand the pressure alone. The best answer is a unified national grassroots campaign to defend the autonomy of colleges and universities while fighting to make higher education more accessible, affordable, and relevant.

The best answer is a unified national grassroots campaign to defend the autonomy of colleges and universities while fighting to make higher education more accessible, affordable, and relevant.

We are building a national movement to push campus leaders and public officials to:
- Fight for federal and state policies to make higher education affordable and accessible to working families
- Drop ICE: demand higher education institutions end contracts with corporate entities that profit from mass deportations, and support international students as valued members of the campus community.
- Champion the role of higher education in a strong, inclusive, and democratic society
- Oppose cuts to student aid and research funding that would undermine local economies and put post-secondary education out of reach of many young people
- Resist federal political meddling in teaching, research, admissions, and hiring

Essential Functions
- Build the campaign’s supporter base by recruiting new participants and expanding the campaign network.
- Collect petitions and mobilize students, education workers, and alumni to take action.
- Drive turnout for campaign events and actions.
- Work closely with the Organizing team to implement digital communications strategies—leveraging email, peer-to-peer texting, digital ads, social media, web, and other tools—to support overall campaign goals.

Qualifications:
We would love to talk with you if you have some (not necessarily all) of the following experiences and skills:
- At least one (1) year of experience in grassroots organizing.
- A demonstrated interest in labor unions and higher education, and a commitment to social justice.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team while also managing independent tasks.
- Flexibility and willingness to work varied hours as needed to complete projects and support organizational campaigns.
- Faith in Action is serving as the fiscal sponsor for this new effort. We are committed to mentoring and developing our Organizing Fellows to strengthen their foundational organizing skills and knowledge.
