About the Emergency Campaign to Support Higher Education:
The Emergency Campaign to Support Higher Education is a grassroots movement of students, alumni, community leaders, faculty, and staff organizing to oppose the Trump Administration’s assault on higher education and fight for free public college and increased support for all of higher education. The attack on colleges and universities is an attack on the foundation of a free and democratic society—a calculated power grab aimed at undermining social, racial, and economic justice. No institution can withstand the pressure alone. The best answer is a unified national grassroots campaign to defend the autonomy of colleges and universities while fighting to make higher education more accessible, affordable, and relevant.

About the Role:
Salary Range: $60,000 - $90,000, with a competitive benefits package
Reports to: National Organizing Director
Start: As soon as possible
End: This is a short-term position through the rest of 2026.
Application deadline: April 6, 2026

We are building a national movement to push campus leaders and public officials to:
- Fight for federal and state policies to make higher education affordable and accessible to working families
- Drop ICE: demand higher education institutions end contracts with corporate entities that profit from mass deportations, and support international students as valued members of the campus community.
- Champion the role of higher education in a strong, inclusive, and democratic society
- Oppose cuts to student aid and research funding that would undermine local economies and put post-secondary education out of reach of many young people
- Resist federal political meddling in teaching, research, admissions, and hiring

Essential Functions:
- Support multi-stakeholder campus organizing in targeted states and regions
- Coordinate turnout and logistics for meetings, bootcamps, and training programs
- Build local and regional movements on higher ed campuses, with local targets with a majority organizing focus.

Qualifications:
- We would love to talk to you if you have some (not necessarily all) of these experiences
- 1-3 years experience in grassroots campaign work, preferably focused on economic justice or other related social movement work.
- Experience in the immigrant rights movement, ties to impacted communities, and/or Spanish language proficiency are a plus, but not required
- A demonstrated interest in labor unions, higher education, and a commitment to social justice.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and create solutions for long-term needs.
- Willingness to work long and irregular hours as needed to complete projects and support organizational campaigns.
- Faith in Action is serving as the fiscal sponsor for this new effort.
