New registration for the MasterTrack Certificate (MTC) via Coursera closed in October 2024. Beginning in January 2025, the MTC program changed its name and platform. The same great content and curriculum are available as the Social Work Essentials Certificate (SWEC).
Students can enroll in any cohort, but if they are planning to pursue the full MSW degree following certificate completion, should align the ending of their cohort with the start of the MSW program. Students may be able to enter a cohort up to two weeks following a published cohort date. To inquire about this, email [email protected].
The MasterTrack certificate was designed to be completed over a 6 month period (taking 2 classes at a time), or a 4 month period (taking 3 classes at a time).
The SW Essentials certificate was designed to be completed over a 4 month period (taking 3 classes at a time).
Please note:
It is strongly discouraged for students to take more than 3 classes at a time, unless they are working on the certificate full time.
Students may be able to enroll in a cohort up to two weeks following a published cohort date.
Students who are planning to pursue the MSW degree following course completion are highly recommended to submit an Eligibility Review Request and then fully apply to the MSW program prior to purchasing the MasterTrack or SW Essentials certificate. Students only interested in the MasterTrack Certificate or SW Essentials Certificate do not need to have their experience screened or apply to the MSW program.
