Recruitment and Admissions Officer
Vanessa is a 2005 graduate of Tuskegee University, where she earned her Bachelor of Social Work degree. She graduated from the School of Social Work in 2006. Vanessa has been a member of the SSW Admissions Review Team since 2007 and currently works part-time as an Admissions and Recruitment Officer, where she welcomes and supports the next generation of social work professionals.
Vanessa is a licensed MSW clinician with experience across a wide range of settings, including outpatient mental health, critical incident response outreach, psychiatric emergency services, private practice. She has also worked in emergency department social work, complex case management, juvenile justice community treatment, field instruction/social work supervision, and provides consultation services addressing a broad range of mental health interventions in individual, group, family, community and organizational settings. Across every setting, her work has been grounded in an unwavering respect for the dignity and worth of all individuals.
Vanessa's professional interests include collaborative community outreach, advocating for survivors of childhood abuse, mentoring students pursuing higher education, and advancing discussions on the importance of intentional spaces where students can realize their potential and access opportunities. As an Admissions and Recruitment Officer, Vanessa prioritizes a person-centered approach to supporting prospective and incoming students on the path to earning their MSW.
