Since receiving her undergraduate degree in secondary education (in 2010) and MSW (in 2015), Jessica Kane has worked across Asia Pacific as a Social Impact Manager at Google. Throughout this time, she has focussed efforts on harnessing technology to solve complex societal problems, bringing diverse partners together (across public, private and for-profit sectors) to develop innovative technology solutions for communities’ most pressing needs. Kane's decade-long career at Google has led her to think more critically about the relationship between technology and social work — specifically, its potential applications and implications, as well as the role social workers can play in the evolution of technology. Currently, Kane is a first-year PhD student in the School of Social Work’s Social Work and Social Welfare doctoral program.
