Brittany Ribeiro Brown's overall research agenda is to advance intersectional, community-engaged scholarship that illuminates how multi-level oppression undermines mental health, and to generate evidence that informs interventions, practice and policy to better support Black and LGBTQ+ populations. Trained in social work and psychology, she applies an interdisciplinary approach to her research, teaching and service, and is driven by a deep commitment to health equity. Ribeiro Brown's research program follows three interconnected lines of inquiry: (a) gendered racial experiences and their impact on mental health and help-seeking among Black men; (b) intersectional stigma shaping health care access for transgender and gender diverse populations; and (c) Black sexual minority experiences of intersectional stigma, including its effects on mental health, help-seeking, access to affirming care and resilient coping. Her defense is scheduled for July 2026.
