Rosalyn Denise Campbell, MSW ’08 & PhD ’12, explores mental health, illness and wellness, particularly among Black Americans and other marginalized groups. She enjoys teaching, training and mentoring students in social work and other helping professions in understanding the contexts in which clients live and the impact those factors have on a client’s illness experience, as well as help-seeking behaviors and service-use patterns. Campbell advises clinicians on culturally-informed practice, thereby improving their working relationship with patients from underserved groups. She also works closely with practitioners and students on how to balance their dedication to practice with taking care of their own health and well-being. Taking great pride in her service to the profession, Campbell works intently with and on behalf of the silenced, marginalized and oppressed. Before taking a medical sabbatical in 2022, she worked for 10 years in the School of Social Work at the University of Georgia, where she received tenure and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2020.
