Kimberly Clum is a graduate of the Joint Doctoral Program in Social Work and Anthropology at the University of Michigan. Her research focuses on single mothers in the low-wage labor market in the United States and on the consequences of economic and occupational immobility for low-wage workers, their families, and workplaces. This research extends into issues of postsecondary education, work supports, and work-family issues. Her work in this area is conducted through intensive fieldwork in southeastern Michigan and she has special expertise in ethnographic and other qualitative methods. Her scholarly interests include poverty, social policy, welfare reform, workforce development, social reproduction of inequality, gender and labor studies.
