Linda Edwards-Brown, LMSW, is a distinguished social work educator, civic leader and advocate for youth and families. She began her career with the Washtenaw County Trial Court, where she served in various capacities before retiring in 2020 as the juvenile division administrator, a role she held for over two decades. Her work in juvenile justice reflects a deep commitment to protecting and empowering children, whom she considers a community’s most valuable resource.
Currently, she serves as a lecturer at the University of Michigan School of Social Work. Previously, she was a continuing education instructor at Washtenaw Community College and a part-time lecturer at Eastern Michigan University. Her teaching style is widely praised for being engaging, inspirational and grounded in real-world experience.
In addition to her academic roles for eight years, she served as an elected trustee for Pittsfield Charter Township, where she played an active role in shaping local policies. Her leadership extended to numerous boards and committees, including Catholic Social Services of Washtenaw, the Michigan Center for Youth Justice, and the Michigan Association for Treatment Court Professionals.
Her accolades include the Ronald Woods, Esq. Equity Justice Warrior Award from Washtenaw County’s My Brother's Keeper, the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Saline Area Chamber of Commerce, the Community Advocate Award from the Student Advocacy Center, the Safe Kids Award from the Washtenaw Area Council for Children and multiple honors recognizing her leadership and advocacy.
