This course presents advanced topics in Interpersonal Practice in Integrated Health, Mental Health, and Substance Abuse. The topics may include emerging practice issues and advanced application of specific methods.
Topic Description:
This course will provide students with assessment and treatment tools to incorporate sexuality and sexual health into the foundations of clinical practice with adolescents, adults, couples and groups. The silence and invisibility of sexuality, health and functioning has been used as a systemic oppression resulting in the neglect of health resources, education and basic humanity.
This course will incorporate sexual health as a social justice mechanism that assesses and treats needs related to sexual identity, socio-relational health and physical health. This course will explore core components of collaborative interpersonal practice as it relates to engagement, use of self, transference, projection.
