This course is taught by various members of the program faculty. Each version of the course has its own subtitle, some being offered one time only while others are repeated and may evolve into regular courses with their own course number and title. This is an appropriate selection for upper-level undergraduate students.
This class begins meeting on Thursday, 01/11/2024.
Topic Description: By enrolling in this interdisciplinary course, UM students will be able to explore issues of digital wellness, both their own and for the middle school students they will mentor. After learning about digital wellness tools and skills, culturally responsive, trauma-informed mentoring, and group facilitation during the first 4 sessions of the course, UM students will host two engaging, on-campus Digital Wellness Symposia for selected Ann Arbor middle school student leaders. UM students will then visit one of the middle schools for the remainder of the semester to mentor middle schoolers as they customize a digital wellness program for their peers and school parents and caregivers. Those enrolled must pass the UM required background check and be able to organize their own transportation to schools. (All the middle schools are on the AATA bus line).
