This course is taught by various faculty. Each version of the course has its own subtitle, some being offered one time only while others are repeated. This course examines community-based action through a social justice education framework. Students engage in structured discussion and dialogue on topics such as social identity, multilevel social change, leadership development, self-care, and social action as components of community practice. The course is composed of four phases of learning including (1) social identity reflection, (2) understanding social inequity, (3) social work framework for community practice, and (4) leadership development and action planning. The course will equip students with the tools to identify social justice connections on campus and will help students develop an understanding of their role as agents of change on campus and in society.
