This course is taught by various members of the program faculty. Each version of the course has its own subtitle, some being offered one time only while others are repeated and may evolve into regular courses with their own course number and title.
Art and design can be a powerful resource for community change, and have been since the inception of the social work profession. Students will engage in readings and discussion on topics related to arts and community change, dialogue with artists doing this work, and participate in a local arts based community project. A component of this course will focus on skills for collaborating with artists and community members, the ethics involved in this work, and methods for evaluating arts based work with communities.
