Professor Katie Edwards was a guest on Michigan Public Radio’s Stateside to discuss how domestic violence can affect a whole community.
“Research shows that there are often earlier warning signs before violence can escalate. Absolutely, Intimate Partner Violence can happen behind closed doors but there’s often signs that neighbors, community members and coworkers may notice,” she said. “We all have a role to play in preventing violence and supporting survivors. The importance is in recognizing those lower-threshold behaviors before they escalate into something much more severe, including intimate partner homicide.”
