Lecturer Douglas Manigault III was interviewed on WEMU-FM in his role as director of development at Ronald McDonald House Charities Ann Arbor, which provides housing, food and support for families with a child facing a medical crisis. Ann Arbor’s Ronald McDonald House, located near C.S. Mott Hospital, has served more than 32,000 families since opening in 1985.
“When we’re talking about access to a child’s healthcare, it’s important for us to acknowledge that that should not be limited by a family’s zip code, income, race, or support network. And so, health equity for us includes whether a family can reach specialized pediatric care and remain near their child once they arrive,” said Manigault. “For the last 40 years, we have been removing barriers, so families can focus on what matters most: their child.”
