Associate Clinical Professor Justin Hodges spoke with Concentrate Media about recent research showing the stark differences in life expectancy between Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor. According to the report, Ann Arbor consistently exceeds the national average for life expectancy, while nearly every part of Ypsilanti falls below that benchmark.
Hodge, who is also a Washtenaw County Commissioner, says the county has begun directing additional resources toward neighborhoods experiencing the greatest health inequities. “Washtenaw County government has increased support in several initiatives aimed at addressing health disparities, such as increasing our investment in community health workers, mobile service delivery options, and the Washtenaw Health Project,” he said.
