Professors Andrew Grogan-Kaylor and Matthew Smith have received 2026 Faculty Excellence in Research Awards. This prestigious peer award recognizes outstanding scholarly contributions by governing faculty. Up to two awards may be given each year.
Grogan-Kaylor received the Best Book Award for “Multilevel Thinking: Discovering Variation, Universals, and Particulars in Cross-Cultural Research.” The award is given for an original scholarly book (first edition) published within the past two years that advances social work knowledge, practice or policy.
Smith received the Best Research Article Award in recognition of “A pragmatic randomized controlled trial of virtual reality job interview training in prison employment services," published in the Journal of Experimental Criminology. The award is given for a peer-reviewed article published within the past two years, demonstrating significance, innovation, methodological rigor and impact.
