Lecturer Trevor Bechtel is the recipient of the School’s Student Government 2026 Teacher of the Year Award. The award, started in 2013, is selected by students and given to the faculty member who has demonstrated commitment to improving education, who has made outstanding and positive contributions to the School’s climate, and whose skills, dedication, understanding and caring have made a positive impact on students.

“I’m humbled to receive this award and grateful to the Social Work community and especially my students for the nomination,” said Bechtel. “I am deeply invested in creating relational learning communities, and while I aim to facilitate these effectively, this kind of recognition is also a recognition of the effort, intention and passion of students to learn and build community. In our times, where learning and community are under attack, I am so happy to be a part of a moment where they are pushed to the fore.”
