Michigan Social Work students participated at the recent National Association of Black Social Workers Conference in Detroit. MSW student Terrell "Tae" Brown was a presenter at a workshop titled "Leading Through Loss: Using African Centered Principles to Heal, Decolonize, and Push Against Hustle Culture." The workshop was developed in collaboration with several MSW students.
Flourish Program Manager and MSW student Ronda Halsey presented a poster titled “Returning Home: An African-Centered Global Social Work Experience.” The poster highlights her Global Course Extension to Accra, Ghana in August 2025 and explores how African-centered social work practices can inform international collaborations and strengthen culturally responsive approaches within global contexts.
