Dean Beth Angell has been elected vice president-elect of the Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR). Angell’s term begins on February 1. In her new role as vice-president elect, she’ll serve a one-year term assisting the vice president. At the end of the term, Angell will ascend to the office of vice president.

“It is an honor and a privilege to serve in the role of Vice President-Elect. I joined SSWR in 1999, and this organization has been tremendously impactful across my career. I look forward to bringing my leadership experience to the role of VP and working collaboratively with the board to implement the vision of the SSWR 2024-28 strategic plan,” said Angell. “I can’t think of a more important time to do the valuable work of growing and nurturing social work research in a way that amplifies our impact, particularly during a time of shrinking resources. Together we will work to enhance the experience of SSWR’s members – with a focus on meeting the needs of emerging and early career scholars through conference and preconference offerings; and reenvisioning the format to meet the diverse needs of the membership and improve accessibility.”

Incorporated in 1994, SSWR is an independent organization dedicated to the advancement of social work research. SSWR’s more than 1,900 members represent over 200 universities and institutions, as well as 16 countries around the globe.
