Professor Karla Goldman, Dean Beth Angell, and MSW students Morgan Hesse and Sam Tick-Racker in a Jewish News article about the Jewish Communal Leadership Program’s annual breakfast.
“As we discussed at our breakfast, I believe social work is fundamentally rooted in communication, especially across differences,” said Hesse. “I foresee some challenges as my classmates and I learn how to have these difficult conversations that may not even result in agreement, but I feel very lucky to be surrounded by people who are willing to work through these conversations from a place of respect and mutual listening.”
“My hope comes from having been able to work with JCLP students over the last 15 years,” Goldman said. “We have navigated extremely challenging times and, together, have been able to create a rare space — one where we can take on the tough questions in the Jewish community and continue to learn from each other even when we disagree. It can be done, and I look to our alumni to share this sense of possibility in the many spaces where they now live and work.”
