    The Clinical Faculty prompt for Job Talks is used to help candidates prepare for their presentation. The guidelines are:

    Persons applying for clinical faculty positions in the past have found it helpful to include in their talk a discussion of:

    The area of practice you feel you are in a position to teach, including the focus of your current practice.

    How issues of social justice are integrated in professional practice for the field you’re preparing students to teach in.

    The aspects of practice you believe are particularly important for new practitioners.

    Courses offered in the School of Social Work you feel most qualified to teach, including those you've taught and others you’d be interested in teaching.

    Where you see yourself professionally in the next 5 to 10 years.

    What you uniquely bring to the School of Social Work’s educational program.

    Five hiring areas: Child Well-Being, Criminal Justice, Gerontology, Health and Health Service Delivery, Nonprofit and Public Management

  2. Advanced Field Peer Consultation Group

    The Peer Consultation Group offers a seminar-like experience where students can come to consult each other with field-related issues/support. The groups are open and drop-in. You can come to as many or as little as you like.

    Interested in learning about pursuing a masters or PhD in social work? Join representatives from the School of Social Work's office of admissions to learn more about the program and the application process. Please note, this event is only open to declared CASC minors.

    Come take a break from your responsibilities and join us for some fun self care! We'll play games, listen to music, color, craft and create like we did when we were kids.

  5. Positioning Yourself to Practice Ethically: The Importance of Collegial Consultation in a Fast Paced World

    March 24, 2015 - 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM ET

    This workshop will utilize the NASW Code of Ethics as a guide and a reference tool and provide participants an opportunity to explore practice implications while determining individual professional responsibility. Participants will engage in small group discussions regarding specific case examples from their everyday practice or those provided. The will have the opportunity to process these cases in small groups seeking potential resolution to the stated dilemmas utilizing a conceptual framework. Participants will act as peer consultants during this process and discussion will focus on identifying potential vulnerable areas of practice, developing risk management strategies and identifying areas for further exploration. Social workers/agencies also need to wrap their brains around the way the digital age has created new sets of ethical questions related to using social media in professional settings.   6. Student Awards Ceremony

    March 24, 2015 - 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM ET

    The Student Awards Ceremony provides a special opportunity to recognize the achievements of our students and to honor and thank our donors whose investment in our students help make those achievements possible. Students who have received named School of Social Work Scholarships will be honored and receive their award certificates from Dean Laura Lein. The event is followed by a reception for award recipients and their guests.

  7. CSWE Reaffirmation Site Visit CSWE Reaffirmation Site Visit

    March 25, 2015 (all day)

    A site visitor from the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) will be on campus in order to assess the School of Social Work's compliance with CSWE's Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (2008). The site visitor will conduct meetings throughout the day with various members of the SSW community.
