  3. Services for Students with Disabilities Student Advisory SpeakABLE event

    April 1, 2015 - 7:00pm

    The Services for Students with Disabilities Student Advisory Board will be sponsoring its second annual student speech event, speakABLE, for disability awareness on campus.
     
    Speakers will talk about disabilities to raise awareness for what progress is yet to be made on this campus.
     

  4. Private Practice Tips & Techniques for Social Workers - Day 1

    April 3, 2015 - 9:00am to 12:00pm

    Day 1 of this course will cover the basics of starting a social work private practice including strategic planning, types of private practice, options for business structures & tips & techniques. Participants will begin to create a draft strategic plan & make other commitments to next steps.

    In Day 2, participants will review their draft strategic plans & other progress. Feedback will be given by presenter as well as other participants. In addition, options for marketing strategies supporting the strategic plan will be covered. Finally, tips & techniques for becoming credentialed by insurance companies will be reviewed.

  6. Catalysts for the Future: Women as Change Agents Catalysts for the Future: Women as Change Agents

    April 4, 2015 - 9:00am to 2:00pm

    Join us at an inaugural symposium that offers a glimpse into how women* develop, cultivate, and organize their communities. The purpose of this symposium is to visualize women's roles as agents of change within communities in the past, present, and future of transformative practice. This symposium will present the topic of community organizing through a ubiquitous perspective; looking at community organizing and community change through a women-centered lens.

  7. Women in Hip-Hop: "From MC Lyte to Iggy Azalea, How did we end up here?"

    April 6, 2015 - 12:00pm to 2:00pm

    This amazing event will dive into various thought provoking concepts including how hip-hop culture’s portrayal of women has impacted the way that women view themselves and how they fit into society and explore how hip-hop culture impacts their expectations for relationships with their partners.  We will also explore how hip-hop culture’s portrayal of women has impacted the way in which male listeners view themselves and the women in their lives as well as the way that hip-hop culture has shaped the way that male listeners relate to women in general. 

    Please join us for an insightful afternoon of spoken word and conversation.

  9. Careers in Aging Week: Lunch and Learn

    April 7, 2015 - 12:00pm to 2:00pm

    Lunch and Learn with social workers from the community who will each discuss their unique roles serving the aging population (10 minutes each). There will be time to meet with each social worker after the presentations. Micro and macro social work perspectives will be presented. Light lunch will be provided.
