  1. Alumni Day of Service - Grand Rapids

    May 17, 2014 - 10:00am to 12:00pm

    Help relieve childhood hunger with your fellow SSW alumni in a morning of service at Kids' Food Basket. We will be preparing food items to be placed in the sack dinners that 5,000 Grand Rapids-area children take home from school each day. Friends and family (high school age and older) are welcome.

    Hosted by the School of Social Work Office of Development and Alumni Relations and the Alumni Relations Committee of the Alumni Board of Governors.

  2. The Rise of Life Sentences in the US: A Conversation with Nicole Porter of the Sentencing Project

    May 23, 2014 - 4:00pm to 6:00pm

    The University of Michigan Crime Control, Poverty and Justice Workgroup, in partnership with the American Friends Service Committee, is hosting a talk with Nicole Porter, Director of State Advocacy with the Sentencing Project. Nicole will discuss life sentences, the aging prison population, and issues of racial justice in the US Criminal Justice Policy. In addition, there will be a panel of former prisoners who have served time on a life sentence in the Michigan Department of Corrections.

  3. Alumni Day of Service - Ann Arbor

    May 24, 2014 - 10:00am to 12:00pm

    Help fight hunger with your fellow SSW alumni in a morning of service at Food Gatherers. We will be sorting and repackaging food to distribute to our hungry neighbors in Washtenaw County. Friends and family (ages 8+ with a parent, 14+ as an individual) are welcome.
