  1. Interdisciplinary Speaker Series: "Fathers and Pediatrics"

    April 1, 2014 - 3:00pm to 4:00pm

    Fathers, Fathering and Fatherhood: An Interdisciplinary Seminar on Research, Paradigms and Possibilities.

    Speaker: Craig Garfield, Associate Professor, Pediatrics, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine

    In conjuction with the speaker series, there will be a graduate seminar that will meet from 4-6 pm in Room 1794 immediately following the speaker presentation.

  2. Backpacking and Advising Party

    April 1, 2014 - 5:00pm to 7:00pm

    This event is a great chance for CASC students to check out the Fall 2014 CASC course guide, hear the inside scoop on CASC courses from the Student Advisory Board, and check in with the advising staff about courses. It's also a great time to socialize with other CASC students!

  5. Advocacy Success: Three Ways to Change People’s Minds

    April 3, 2014 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm

    A Presentation by Prof. Richard Hoefer.

    Richard Hoefer is the Roy E. Dulak Professor for Community Practice Research and Director of the Center for Advocacy, Nonprofit and Donor Organizations at The School of Social Work at The University of Texas-Arlington.  He has written many books on advocacy practice in social justice and nonprofit settings and is the author of Advocacy Practice for Social Justice (2nd Edition), (2012), Is Your Organization Visible: Five Must-Do Steps for Nonprofits to Take to Become "Famous" to Donors, Volunteers, Funders and the Media (with Shannon Graves, 2014) and Developing Nonprofit and Human Service Leaders: Essential Knowledge and Skills (with Larry D. Dan Watson) (2013). He received his PhD from The Interdisciplinary Program in Social Work and Political Science at The University of Michigan.

  8. MSW/PhD Prospective Student Session

    April 8, 2014 - 3:00pm to 4:00pm

    This session will provide the opportunity to learn more about the University of Michigan School of Social Work's MSW & PhD Programs. Topics covered will include: MSW/PhD Curriculum, Dual Degree Programs, Application Process, Social Work Faculty & Staff, Degree Requirements, and Financial Aid.

  9. Field Placement Webinar

    April 8, 2014 - 3:30pm to 5:00pm

    This webinar will walk admitted students through the process of applying for a field placement.  All students should plan to attend either the April 8th or April 23rd session.  Presenters will also discuss how to effectively utilize the Career Center in preparing field application materials. The last 30 minutes of the session will discuss specific information for students planning to apply for a school placement.  

    This is a web-based session and you may attend from any computer via an Internet connection.

  10. Students with Disabilities and our Allies Group (SDAG) Universal Design Panel Discussion

    April 9, 2014 - 12:00pm to 2:00pm

    We are hosting a panel discussion, with breakout session, about the mindset behind Universal Design. Please come and share your input as we delve into how we can design a society that is inclusive of ALL people regardless of physical or cognitive ability levels. We are fortunate to have world-class experts who specialize in universal design from the disciplines of Information Technology, Information Science and Architecture. Trust me, this will be a lot of fun and you WILL be glad you came.
