  1. Nonprofit and Public Management Summer Internship Support

    March 14, 2014 (all day)

    NPM will award competitive grants for nonprofit and public management internships to students pursuing graduate degrees in the Ford School of Public Policy and the School of Social Work. Grants are also available for both MBA and BBA students in the Ross School of Business. Only internships served prior to graduation from U-M are eligible (i.e. students must graduate no earlier than December 2014).

    Interested in learning more about dialogue? Want to explore your social identities? Join the CASC community for a student-sponsored dialogue on power, privilege, and social identity. Together we'll explore how our social identities impact the classroom and our work in the community. We'll also practice better communication skills for speaking across conflict.

  4. Market-Oriented Approaches to Social Welfare

    March 17, 2014 - 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM ET

    The U-M Office of the Vice President for Research presents, “Market-Oriented Approaches to Social Welfare: Current Trends in Leading Development Models.” In this talk, Professor Steven G. Anderson explores the utility of social entrepreneurship, corporate social responsibility, and other market-oriented social change strategies, both in the U.S. and in the developing world. Registration is not required, and the event is free.

  6. Interdisciplinary Speaker Series: "Taking Care of My Own: Fathers and Family Complexity in an Era of Rising Inequality"

    Fathers, Fathering and Fatherhood: An Interdisciplinary Seminar on Research, Paradigms and Possibilities.

    Speaker: Kevin Roy, Associate Professor, Family Science Department, University of Maryland

    In conjuction with the speaker series, there will be a graduate seminar that will meet from 4-6 pm in Room 1794 immediately following the speaker presentation.

  7. 2014 Student Awards Ceremony

    March 18, 2014 - 6:15 PM to 9:00 PM ET

    The Student Awards Ceremony honors the talented and committed members of the community at the University of Michigan School of Social Work. Students who have received named School of Social Work Scholarships will be named and receive their award certificates from Dean Laura Lein. The event is followed by a reception for award recipients and their guests.

  8. Social Justice Grand Rounds

    The UMHS Department of Social Work Education Committee and the UMHS Department of Social Work Staff Development Committee invite you to attend the winter term 2014 Social Justice Grand Rounds Series.  *CE availability:  1.5 CE per event.  No registration is necessary.

    Please note these count as ethics CEU’s.

    Event:  Social Justice Grand Rounds is the only structured event at U-M that formally unites graduate students in social work, field instructors, other social workers, and social work faculty in a collaborative effort to address social injustice through the use of an actual case illustrative of injustice in health care, as presented by a student in Field at UMHS.  The student presenter will be Larkin Lohr.

    In its intent and in its content, this event is highly relevant to Social Work ethics, practice, theory, education, standards, policy, & professional development.
