Lauren White

PhD Student. Social Work/Psychology - Social Candidate

Lauren White, MPH, MSW, LLMSW, is a PhD candidate in the Joint Program for Social Work and Social Psychology. Her research focuses on mental health in rural Indigenous communities, including social and cultural determinants, strengths-based prevention approaches and community-engaged mental health interventions. More specifically, White’s work combines participatory methodologies and implementation frameworks to understand how Indigenous people can put evidence-based mental health practices into use in everyday life. Her work has been supported by the Research for Indigenous Social Action and Equity (RISE) Center; the Institute for Social Research, and the National Institutes of Health.

White is currently a student researcher with the PC CARES intervention and the TRACS research study. She is a practicing therapist under supervision at the Women’s Center of Southeastern Michigan.
