Professor Barry Checkoway, Director of Undergraduate Minor Programs and Assistant Professor Katie Richards-Schuster, Intergroup Relations Associate Director Roger Fisher, and Administrative Coordinator Bridget Christian led the Grosse Pointe Public School System's diversity initiative, as core members of SSW’s youth and community program. They worked closely with the high school students, helping them assess student perceptions on diversity, equity and inclusion at both Grosse Pointe North and Grosse Pointe South.

Professor Robert Taylor’s article, “Socioeconomic Status, Financial Strain, and Leukocyte Telomere Length in a Sample of African American Midlife Men” was published in the Journal of Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities.

Associate Dean, Faculty and Academic Affairs and Professor Ruth Dunkle and Professor Berit Ingersoll-Dayton’s article, “Health and Social–Physical Environment Profiles Among Older Adults Living Alone: Associations With Depressive Symptoms” was published in The Journals of Gerontology, Series B (Psychological Sciences and Social Sciences).

Professor Brian Perron and Assistant Professor David Córdova’s chapter, “Validity: Conceptual and Methodological Issues in Substance Abuse Research” was published in Research Methods in the Study of Substance Abuse handbook. 

Ed-Dee Williams (PhD student) and Assistant Professor Jamie Mitchell’s article, “Characterizing Mobility Limitations Among Older African American Men” was published in the Journal of the National Medical Association.

Mary Mattson (MSW student) and Assistant Professor Mathieu Despard received a grant from the U-M Graham Sustainability Institute for their project, ''Driving Hope'', which seeks to empower vulnerable families and individuals in Washtenaw County by providing low cost automotive maintenance and advice. The project works with local non-profits and auto mechanics who understand the important role of transportation in maintaining employment and independence.

Professors Joe Himle, Richard Tolman, Data Analyst Brandy Sinco, Clinical Assistant Professor Sue Ann Savas, and Adjunct Lecturer Elizabeth Thomason’s article, "The effect of social anxiety, generalized anxiety, depression and substance abuse on child support payment compliance among non-custodial parents" was published in Children and Youth Services Review.

Assistant Professor Katie Richards-Schuster and LEO Adjunct Lecturer Joe Galura’s article, “Navigating multiple ePortfolios: lessons learned from a capstone seminar” was published in the International Journal of ePortfolio.
