    Daphne Watkins Selected to Speak at SSWR Annual Conference's Brief and Brilliant

    Director of Joint PhD Program and Associate Professor Daphne Watkins is one of five social work scholars selected to be featured at the Society for Social Work and Research's (SSWR) Brief and Brilliant TEDx-style session in January. This year’s conference theme is "Achieving Equal Opportunity, Equity and Justice". Related to this theme, each speaker will be asked to complete the statement “I dream a world….”. The Brief and Brilliant session was developed last year with the goal of translating social work research to engage a broad audience and emphasize the public relevance of this work.

    Assistant Professor David Córdova was selected by the National Institute on Drug Abuse to present at the 2018 Office of Diversity and Health Disparities’ Diversity Supplements Workshop in March.

    Associate Professor Sandra Momper was featured in SSW Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Office's November faculty highlight, in honor of Native American Heritage Month. Her article, “OxyContin Use on a Rural Midwest American Indian Reservation: Demographic Correlates and Reasons for Using” was the piece of research selected.

    Adrienne Lapidos Receives Grant from Michigan Department of Health & Human Services for Community Health Worker Project in Detroit

    Assistant Research Scientist and LEO Adjunct Lecturer Adrienne Lapidos received a grant from the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services for her project, ''Create Sustainable Model for Community Health Workers in Detroit." The project is designed to address the behavioral, medical, and social determinants of health among health plan enrollees living in the Cody Rouge neighborhood of Detroit.

    The Child and Adolescent Data Lab's article, "Disparities at Adjudication in the Juvenile Justice System: An Examination of Race, Gender, and Age" was published in Social Work Research. The lab includes PhD student Michael Evangelist, Associate Professors Joe Ryan and Brian Perron, research associate Bryan Victor, and data analyst Andrew Moore.
