  1. “Global Lens” Social Work Reflective Photo Exhibition

    November 16, 2015 - 8:00 AM to November 30, 2015 5:00 PM ET

    Share your experience living and working in another country (including the US) through photos and stories. We encourage SSW students, staff and faculty share their photos and reflections on living and working in other countries to raise awareness for international students and international education opportunities on campus.


    Submissions Due: Tuesday, Nov. 10th
    Exhibition: Nov 16-30, 2014 (as part of Global Social Work Week)
    Share your expereince by filling out the Social Work Reflective Photo Exhibition 2015 submission form.
    Eligibility: Students, staff, faculty & alumni from the School of Social Work. NOTE: Your photo does not have to be from a SSW global experience. You also do not need to be in your picture.

  2. Collaborative Skill Building Exercises for Team Leadership Development

    November 16, 2015 - 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM ET

    Are you leading a staff, group, or a project and want to learn some activities to develop team building? Learn team problem solving exercises and collaborative skills activities; use these exercises with staff, teammates, clients, classmates, for developing collaborative problem solving strategies; gain tools for adapting content of these exercises to your particular task environment.

    Global Activity Scholar Nina Jackson Levin will facilitate a workshop on team building exercises she learned during her field placement in Melbourne, Australia. Lunch will be served.

  3. Film Screening - "Paper Tigers"

    SSW is co-sponsoring a screening of a new documentary, “Paper Tigers”, on trauma informed practices in schools. Pizza will be provided. 

     

  4. Film Screening: Concerning Violence

    November 17, 2015 - 12:15 PM to 1:45 PM ET

    Join the Social Work Doctoral Student Organization for a screening of the 2014 documentary film "Concerning Violence." From the director of "The Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975" comes a bold and fresh visual narrative on Africa, based on newly discovered archive material covering the struggle for liberation from colonial rule in the late '60s and '70s, accompanied by text from Frantz Fanon's classic book "The Wretched of the Earth" - narrated by Lauryn Hill.

    This event is a great chance for CASC students to check out the Winter 2016 CASC course guide, learn the inside scoop on CASC courses from the Student Advisory Board, and check in with the advising staff about courses. It's also a great time to socialize with other CASC students!

    Join us for an informal discussion about publishing at U-M. The U-M library publishes scholarly and educational materials in a range of formats for wide dissemination and permanent preservation. The library manages large to small publishing projects, from books sold on Amazon to short runs. This is casual and you can come and go as your schedule dictates. Lunch will be provided
