    December 10, 2015 - 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM ET

    During this busy and hectic time, The SSW People of Color Collective, The School of Social Work Student Union, and The School of Social Work will be co-sponsoring dinner and study space.  This is an opportunity to grab a bite to eat, connect with other students, and complete your end of term assignments in a communal space.  

    Dinner will be provided from 5:30-7pm.  Study space will be available until 9pm.

    December 14, 2015 - 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM ET

    The students of the Social Work Class, Religion, Spirituality, Mental Health and Social Work (SW 713), will be holding a poster session presenting their research. The overall theme of the students’ research and posters is to examine the connections between religion and spirituality and various aspects of mental health and social work practice.

  6. Social Work's Response to New Trends in Grief and Loss

    December 18, 2015 - 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET

    This workshop will address the emerging trends in grief and loss in our current society. Participants will learn the theoretical underpinnings for assessing and treating grief and loss. The workshop will discuss types of grief and loss experiences and best practice treatment options. Loss is prevalent in our lives and continues across the life cycle. One's perception of loss is affected by many variables including type of loss, socioeconomic and cultural factors, and that loss is a unique experience for every individual. Participants will learn recent advances in the research literature, and how this relates to advancing clinical practice techniques and future social work positions. Ethical issues and pain management will be included in the workshop as they relate to palliative and end of life care.
