    Title: Preventing HIV/STI and Drug Use among Adolescents

    HIV/STI risk behaviors, including sexual risk behaviors and drug use, remain a public health concern. With the passing of the Affordable Care Act, combined with advances in technology, primary care settings and m(obile)-health platforms provide social work researchers with unique opportunities to engage and deliver HIV/STI and drug use preventive interventions. Professor Cordova will describe his program of research aimed at developing and testing an mHealth primary care intervention. The long-term goal of this program of research is to eliminate HIV/STI and drug use health disparities.

  6. Global Lens Photo Exhibition 2015 Submission Deadline Global Lens Photo Exhibition 2015 Submission Deadline

    The Office of Global Activities is holding a reflective photo exhibition as a part of Global Social Work Week (November 16-20, 2015). Share your experience living and working in another country through photos and stories. This is a way for students, staff or faculty to express, compare, and contrast their experience in a new place, and to raise awareness for international students and education abroad opportunities on campus. The exhibition will be on display in the SSWB across from the Office of Student Services from November 16-30, 2015. The deadline for submission is Tuesday, November 10.  Fill out and submit The Global Lens Photo Submission Application and Guidelines.

    The Reflective Photo Gallery is a project for all students, alumni, faculty and staff in the School of Social Work to reflect on their identity as a visitor through photography and narratives of when they were abroad.  Domestic and international students are encouraged to participate in the process of reflecting and sharing their experience in cross-national and cross-cultural settings.  Participants are encouraged to submit photos of their time abroad using the lens of a camera to capture and reflect on issues of Privilege, Oppression, Diversity, and Social Justice. See past submissions here.

  9. Child & Adolescent Data Lab Lunch Series: R and Markdown

    See how you can produce reproducible reports using R and Markdown.

    This lunch series is open to all students, faculty, and researchers who are interested in learning about data science tools and how they can be applied to a wide variety of research areas. These are introductory sessions. Participants should have some familiarity with or interest in learning R and R-related tools.

    Lunch provided for free by the Data Lab.

  10. Managing Chronic Pain with CBT

    November 13, 2015 - 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM ET

    Chronic Pain is a common comorbity for those seeking mental health and social work services. Chronic pain is often undertreated or mistreated due to inadequate access to care, stigma, and social inequalities. This course discusses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Managing Chronic Pain. CBT-CP is an evidence based treatment that has shown to be effective in assisting clients with improving their functioning while living with a chronic pain condition.
